Last week, the news was buzzing with Russia’s Putin and the Wagon group, taking over our screens and flooding social media. I’m sure many of you were glued to the updates, holding your breath in anticipation. But amidst all the commotion, there was one local news story that really grabbed my attention:

On June 21, 2023, the U.S. Agriculture Department approved the sale of chicken made from animal cells, marking a significant milestone as lab-grown meat receives regulatory approval in the country.

What is Lab-Grown Meat?

As the name implies, lab-grown meat is indeed real meat, as it comprises the same animal cells that are traditionally associated with “meat.” However, the notable difference lies in how it is produced: within a controlled laboratory environment.

Lab-grown meat, often referred to as cultivated meat, is produced by cultivating animal cells in stainless-steel cultivators, also known as bioreactors. It begins with the extraction and banking of stem cells from a live donor animal.
